Did You Know?:~That NRDC's Independent testing has shown that bottled water is not necessarily any purer than tap water, ~That it takes 26 times more water to make the plastic for bottled water than the bottle contains, ~More than 500 of the 875 pesticides currently legally allowed for use in the United States are used on food, ~Pregnant women should eat no more than one ounce of swordfish each week--to protect themselves and their child from mercury exposure, ~By buying 10 percent of common fruits and vegetables locally, 300, 000 gallons of fossil fuels are saved-preventing 8 million pounds of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the air, ~A one-year-old eats 2 to 7 times more grapes, bananas, apples, pears, carrots, and broccoli than the average adult, making them more vulnerable to harmful pesticide residues.
